Learning How to Establish Style in Writing

by john duffey.

In college, our professors encouraged us to use other writers'
work as basis for learning how to come up with our own style in
 writing.

Of course, style takes years to develop and at that time, each of
us wanted to adopt a style that we think is cool, like James
 Joyce's style. Or Martin Amis'.

Well, the practice helped us learn how to invent your own phrases
 and sentences all the time.

Making A Difference Through Writing

by john duffey.

One of the things that writers write a lot about is one that
involves drama and angst. Destruction, apocalyse, and warfare are
also popular themes today. However, I agree that making a
difference through the written word should be a priority as well.
Here are three ways that this may be achieved. I was able to
explore the topic when I gave dissertation
 writing services to the college.

Make the reader aware of your society

Creativity should not be limited to the above-mentioned themes. I
believe that a talented writer has ways on how to talk about his
or her society in a 300-page novel without getting boring or
uninteresting. One exampe is Paolo Coelho, whose books are mostly
about life, love, and one's relationship with his or her
spirituality. I'm not saying that one has to write like him.
Establish your own style and come up with something that
 inspires.

Talk about the state of the environment

I would like to see the state of the environment today written in
creative prose. I would like to see how one writer could help
change the course of our earth's destiny through literature. I
haven't found one that does that, without being controversial or
 politically biased.

Use of Right Words in Writing

by donald martin.

The right words, make the right impression. The use of right
words in writing indicates a writer's ability. To know if the
words used are the exact words that must be used and not their
mere synonyms, try inserting different words at a time. Read the
sentence once or twice and see which word will provide the
 perfect sense.

The rule here is using the right word and because it is your
imagination being put into words, only you know what is “right.”
On the other hand, this does not mean you should be complacent
with your writing. Writers who have more experience than you,
have ways of knowing if you used the right words in forming your
thoughts into sentences that make up the paragraphs of your
 reflective
 essay, for example.

To them, you would be nothing but a novice writer, if they treat
you as one at all. To the rest of your readers, however, you
could be just some incompetent writer who did not make a lasting
 impression.

How I Got Into Mechanical Engineering

by franny mcfarlan.

One of my cool memories as a kid was sitting on my older
brother's shoulders, waiting for the blue race car he said was my
father's, ready to cheer and clap my hands. Because my dad was so
into racing, my brother and I had the privilege of watching his
every race aside from meeting other racers. I was seven years old
 then.

I barely knew anything about cars or racing, but I was aware that
many people like to watch it happen live and that it is such a
cool thing. My brother who was in junior high school at that time
dreamed of becoming a racer like dad and he would always join him
in the garage, exploring the car engine.

That was how I got into mechanical engineering. My brother was
not the only audience during those afternoons at the garage. I
 remember writing a custom essay
about it in middle school, stating that I can become a good
 mechanic when I grow up.

by Richard Jones.

Having been to the recent Moodleposium and seem the presentation
by Julian Ridden of Pukunui, I decided to introduce some elements
of game theory into my new workshop. Even though the target
audience is adult (teachers of computer science) rather than
young people it might be interesting.

The new free and informal workshop I am currently developing at
this site will have some features such as achievements that
reveal themselves as activities are completed and rewards in the
form of interesting or curious Youtube clips.

I have also determined to build a portfolio of my achievements
here using Mahara. for this I need to colelct and display
some of my past publications and documents. Will take a
 while.
